Totally Abandoned Conference
I think one of my favorite aspects of this conference was the praise and worship team’s ability and willingness to have no pre-set agenda but to flow where the spirit of God was leading. There is nothing in this world that compares to the moments when God’s people lift up His name in praise and worship and He touches His worshippers with His love. The Bible tells us that He inhabits the praises of His people, and that was certainly the case at this conference.
Each session started with singing, and then I had the pleasure of sharing God’s Word through preaching, teaching, and visual aids. We discussed the maturity that God is desiring from us—maturity to not allow our emotions and reactions to constantly fluctuate based on our circumstances but to practice being near to Him throughout the entire day. The concept of surrendering the areas of our lives was highlighted and the benefits of releasing all control to Him so that He can breathe on us and propel us to obtain all that He created us to have and be. Just like a huge ship whose white sails are unfurled for the wind to blow across the water, He wants us to surrender our white flags/sails to Him.
It was a delight to welcome all of the children of the church to join us as we learned about the fruits of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22-23. This message was shared through ventriloquism and singing. I always love watching the adults find the five-year-olds inside of them as they pretend with the kids that my characters are really talking.
