Are you praying for something? Crying out to God for an answer? Does it seem like nothing is happening? I want to encourage you that the answer is already on its way. God is working on our behalves. Isaiah 30:18 says, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!”
When I ponder Him working behind the scenes on our behalves, I am reminded of a beautiful story of His faithfulness.
Friends of ours had been trying for years to conceive a child, however once doctors told them they would never be able to have biological children, they turned their attention and desire toward adopting. After completing hours of paperwork and meetings at the crisis pregnancy center in town, their next step was to prepare a family album for pregnant mothers who were looking for adoptive parents. In it they placed photos of the beautiful nursery that was awaiting their adopted child. The baby’s smiling, future grandparents filled one page while paragraphs introducing themselves to the birthmother filled the next.
Several months later this couple was ecstatic as they met with the same birth mother several times and cautiously allowed their hearts to believe that the baby she carried would be theirs. I can’t even begin to imagine the heartbreak they felt when the adoption agency called to let them know that the pregnant teenager would not be choosing them. Oh the devastation my friend experienced as she tried going to sleep that night with her tear-stained pillow underneath her cheek.
My friend now smiles and holds her newborn son as she retells this story. What she didn’t know as she cried herself to sleep is that another birth mom would choose her weeks later. Her son that was being prepared for her in another woman’s womb was already six months in utero as she wept that night. Her heavenly Father was working behind the scenes on her behalf. Now as she strokes her baby’s sweet, blonde hair, she is forever convinced that he was hers from the very beginning and that he was already on his way to his forever family as she wept over the disappointment of what felt like an unanswered prayer.
Your answer is on its way. God has divine appointments that he is setting up for you right now that you may not even know about until years later. How do I know this? His word tells us so. And I know this as I am already purchasing my granddaughters’ Christmas gifts weeks before they will unwrap them and discover that I was very much aware of the princess dolls they were hoping for. I am almost giddy over planning what wrapping paper will be used and what their little faces will look like as their eyes beam in delight. Our Daddy feels the same way about us.
Matthew 7:9-11— “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, though you are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
Get ready . . . your answer is already on its way!
