Do you ever remembering playing hopscotch as a kid? A rock is thrown out to the chalk-drawn square of where you are headed. The rock lands on the square, and you then proceed to hop to the square that you have claimed as your landing place.
What is a landing place that you have your heart set on? What are you believing for?
There are times in our Christian walk where we need to throw a rock out there in faith, an action behind our belief. One of my favorite stories I heard a minister tell was about a time when he was believing for an airplane. He needed to get around more quickly and cover more ground so that he could minister to more people. He was tithing and had continued to give to other ministries and was waiting on God’s timing.
One day God spoke to his heart and asked, “If you are believing for a plane, then why don’t you have a hangar to put it in?” The minister went and rented an airplane hangar for an airplane that he didn’t even own yet. Other airplane owners would pass him at the hangar and ask, “What kind of plane do you have?” Not wanting to lie, he would describe his future airplane and would answer his fellow pilots, “It’s a good one!” Months later that minister was GIVEN a plane.
Action taken before seeing what God has promised reminds me of the seasons when I was pregnant with my daughters. For those nine months, I would prepare a nursery, buy newborn diapers, and choose a name. All for a baby that I had never held or touched but that I knew was heading our way to forever change our family.
What promise has God gently spoken to your heart?
The Bible tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Check out chapter 11 of Hebrews. By faith Noah built an ark before ever seeing a wet raindrop. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
What an exciting life, to prepare and stay in faith for what He has promised. Is there a specific action that God is asking you to take today?
